Back-to-Wall WC The cistern is separate from the pan and concealed behind a wall or inside fitted furniture. This can look very streamlined and can be an effective and economical use of space in a small bathroom.
Bath Filler TapSimilar to monobloc basin mixers, but for filling baths.
Bath & Shower MixerA single body fitting, requiring two tap holes for hot and cold water supplies, which mixes within the body of the fitting.

Bow QuadrantBased on a standard Quadrant with an extra ‘bow’ shaped section to provide more space. The enclosure has a fixed curved panel with a sliding door.
CisternThe ceramic or plastic tank which contains the water which flushes the WC. The cistern may be close coupled, concealed, low level or high level.
Close Coupled WCThe underside of the cistern rests directly on the back of the WC bowl creating a compact unit with low overall height. Some contemporary designs appear almost like a single item.
Concealed Magnetic Door ClosureThe magnet is hidden behind the profile of the enclosure and thus not visible.
Double Ended BathGenerally rectangular in shape with the facility for fitting taps on the side of the bath, as opposed to the end, allows two people to bathe together.
D Shape BowThis enclosure is in the shape of a capital D, with the flat section sitting against the wall. It is made up of fixed panels with double sliding doors.
Hinge DoorThis door is on hinges which open away from the door post to enable the door to open fully.
Lay On BasinSometimes called the VESSEL BASIN. This basin is the simplest form of washbasin since it is designed to simply sit on top of a counter, on furniture or on a shelf. The basin has a central waste outlet and sometimes comes with no overflow. Taps are either fitted to the basin or are designed to be freestanding on the furniture. Lay-on or vessel basins can be described as “minimalist”and ultra-modern.
Micro Adjustment SystemA means of ensuring the framework is vertical/square by being able to adjust in small increments.
Monobloc Mixer TapA single body fitting, requiring only one tap hole. Mixes water from two supplies normally hot and cold at equal water pressures. Available in a basin or bidet fitting.
Multi OutletA multi outlet WC is the term given to a WC which can be connected and used in all drain configurations. The horizontal outlet from the WC is configured so that it can be installed, with appropriate plastic connectors, to ‘S trap’, ‘P trap’, and ‘bottom outlet’ situations.
Offset BasinWhen looked at from above the ‘offset basin’ does not look symmetrical. The bowl of the washbasin is set to one side, either to the left or to the right, of centre. This arrangement allows the use of the remaining area, on the opposite side to the bowl, as a shelf for temporary storage of personal items. An offset corner basin goes a little further since it makes the basin more ergonomic and easier to use.
Offset Corner BathFits into the corner of the bathroom, but has unequal length sides, giving more bathing space while occupying less room. Available to fit in the left or right hand corner.
Out Of True WallsThese are wall surfaces which are not completely level or even. Our installation system enables you to compensate for this problem.
Pop Up WasteOften supplied with monobloc mixers, negating a need for an untidy plug and chain. An operating rod is usually concealed behind the mixer to raise and lower plug. Also available for use in a bath.
Porcelain Enamelled Steel BathManufactured from sheet steel which is pressed to form the shape of the baths and then coated with porcelain enamel. The ultimate in durability and rigidity and guaranteed for 25 years. Quoted thickness does not include enamel coating.
ProfileThe aluminium framework of the enclosure.
Quadrant & Offset QuadrantThe Quadrant enclosure has a quarter shape, with the right angle fitting into a corner. The Offset Quadrant has one straight edge longer than the other to create more showering space.
Radius ScreenA screen panel with a curved top edge.
Sail ScreenAs the name suggests, this screen has a curved side edge resembling a sail.
Semi-Recessed BasinA fitted basin which is semi-recessed into a furniture unit. May be more comfortable to bend over than a fully recessed basin.
Shower BathProvides conventional bathing with additional facility for over bath showering. Usually available as left or right hand options depending on which end of the bath is to be used for showering.
Shower TrayThe floor section of a shower enclosure, with a built-in waste for the water to flow away.
Side PanelUsed with a Hinge or Sliding Door to create a two-sided shower enclosure.
Sliding DoorA product which simply comprises of one fixed panel with a sliding door panel moving behind it to open.
Soft Closing MechanismThis is the term given to toilet seats and furniture doors/drawers having a special hinge or runner mechanism which slows the movement of the seat/door/drawer as it closes. The mechanism is hidden within the hinge or runner. The seat and furniture will not close with a sudden thud but will gently fall into place, unaided.
Short ProjectionSome sanitaryware is designed especially for use in small bathrooms. The product is designed to save as much space as possible by not projecting as far as normal into the room. A short projection washbasin is very narrow from front to back. Likewise the short projection WC is considerably shorter than normal from the wall to the front rim.
Walk In CurveA curved glass panel which is fitted to a wall to create a showering space.
Walk In FlatA flat glass panel attached to one wall - you simply walk in behind it to the showering space.
Walk ThroughA freestanding glass panel which creates a showering space accessed from either side.
Waste UnitThe fitting which enables the water to flow out of the shower tray. The ‘elbow’ is the angled water pipe section.
WCTerm used for Water Closet or more commonly known as a toilet.
Wall Hung WCThe cistern is separate from the pan and concealed behind a wall or inside fitted furniture. The pan juts out from the wall, above the floor, on brackets. Basins and bidet can also be wall hung. This makes for a clean, minimal look, as well as for easy cleaning.
Wet RoomA completely tiled showering space with no shower tray - the waste pipe is fitted straight into the floor. |
